There are many components that make up a high quality car audio system, and we've got the lot! Take a look at some of the upgrade possibilities below.

Head unit - The most important part of any audio system is the head unit (music source). There are 4 basic options - CD, Cassette, Minidisc or MP3 (all incorporate radio). MP3 is the latest technology, MP3's are audio files that are compressed allowing more to be stored on a CD. A single CD-R or CD-RW can hold about 10 hours of MP3 music, that's up to 10 albums on one disc! To create an MP3 CD, you'll need a computer with a CD writer, and the appropriate software. An in-car MP3 player can play MP3 CD's as well as standard CDs that you buy from a record store.

Add a CD changer to your factory fitted stereo - If you want to add a CD player but don't want to lose your cars original stereo then we have fitting solutions for almost every vehicle.

Speakers - Factory fitted speakers are usually made of weather treated paper, to get accurate and clear sound, speakers should be made of extremely rigid material. Soft materials like paper will bend and maybe even rip if too much power is applied them, they will also bend as they move so the sound won't be accurately reproduced. Aftermarket speakers however, are made from synthetic material similar to plastic, and even metal. These materials are extremely stiff and can handle any abusive power you subject them to, they are also not susceptible to flexing which deteriorates sound quality.

Amplifiers - If you like your music loud then consider an amplifier. Adding an amp gives you a high quality power source that will drive your speakers without straining, resulting in cleaner and more defined sound at all volume levels. When you turn up your stereo and you hear distortion, that's the amplifier inside your stereo struggling to power the speakers. Adding an amplifier will help overcome this. No matter what your musical preference, an amplifier will breathe life into your music, bringing out all of its excitement and detail.

Subwoofers - Changing your speakers for better ones certainly improves the clarity and stereo imaging but there's still something missing. The bass is all but non existent in most installations and in an effort to improve things we all reach for the bass control, whack it up, then find the loudness button and switch that on. Now we have some bass - soft boomy distorted bass with no definition that muddles up all those nice clear mids we had a few moments ago. Car speakers are simply too small to handle the entire frequency range efficiently. A dedicated Subwoofer that is designed to produce plenty of the lower end frequencies will add the power and excitement without straining the rest of the system. If you want to feel the passion and dynamics of the music in your car then you will be need a subwoofer!

Fitting Adaptors - We stock a full range of fitting adaptors to enable you to fit your stereo quickly and correctly should you wish to do it yourself. These include wiring adaptors which plug directly into your car's original wiring loom, facia adaptors for factory stereos that are moulded to the shape of the dash, aerial adaptors, and speaker adaptors. We also keep a full range of steering/stalk control adaptors that allow you to fit an aftermarket stereo but retain the use of your factory fitted remote controls.
